The Novatel 2200 is a CDMA Mifi device for creating a local Wifi hotspot over a cellular connection. It's sold by Verizon, Sprint, and Virgin Mobile for use with their networks. I have a Virgin Mobile device because it allows me to buy service by the month, instead of two years at a time. === Won't charge with standard micro-usb cable === It really annoys me when companies break standards just to pry a few more dollars out of you. The Novatel 2200 will not charge with a standard USB charger and cable. It [[http://blog.fosketts.net/2011/02/15/novatel-mifi-2200-charging-usb/|requires]] ~1.4 volts on pin X of the micro-USB cable. This pin should normally be open or grounded. Apparently this is a scam originated by Motorola, to require purchasing brand-name chargers. Of course, the reason for standardizing on micro-usb for cell phone chargers was to reduce the electronic waste. === Disables Wifi when plugged into computer === When you plug the device into your computer, and have the driver installed, then it will charge. It also then acts as a tethered modem, and disables the Wifi.
