Imagine

Imagine the world you'd like to live in.

Don't worry about how it might come about. Just picture what it's like. What is the world that matches your values, your principles, and your priorities like? What are some things you might see or hear?

Take a moment to visualize this world before reading on.

If you're like most people, you probably thought at least as much about what that world is NOT like, what it's missing compared to the world you currently know, as what it contains. We are all so accustomed to identifying problems and proposing solutions to them. This focuses us on the problems. When you focus on problems, you see more problems. The things out-of-focus fade from your perception. Cynicism and struggle become the default context for your life, and that context limits what you can see and what options are available to you.

Experiment with looking for possibilities. Look for the seeds of those possibilities in the world around you. Merely looking at them and appreciating them increases the possibility of growing them.

It seems hard to imagine that world of possibilities, but that's not because it IS hard; it's because doing so is unfamiliar to us. We need to practice. We need to share these possibilities with each other. The more we talk about the possibilities, the more real they become.

P.S. Let's talk about the possibilities. I need practice with this, too. You could schedule a Zoom Session with me to talk about it.
